Versioning convention

When a public Privacy Policy or Terms of Service is materially updated:

1. preserve the superseded public version in this directory with an effective-date filename;
2. keep the original effective date visible in the archive;
3. update the current page's Effective date, Last updated, and prior-version link;
4. summarize material changes in repository history / the relevant pull request; and
5. do not treat acceptance of a general legal-document update as consent to a new data transmission where the current policy requires separate feature-specific opt-in.

Repository history remains the canonical verbatim record of every revision. Archive pages exist to make prior public versions easy to find from the website.
